About us

Mpower is a YMCA Ireland Programme which is funded by the EU under Peace 4. There are 9 Mpower groups throughout Northern Ireland and also in Monaghan just over the border. Our group is based in Drumahoe in the Londonderry YMCA building and is made up of young people ranging from 18 to 23 years old. We have been looking at different subjects since we started such as good relations, personal development and citizenship and an important part of this has been taking part in the John Muir Award. It has given us a chance to get out and explore and learn about our environment as well as to do our bit in helping to protect it for future generations. The award has taken us to local places that many of us never knew existed before and shown us the impact we have had on the local rivers and wildlife.
